Water treatment services
Water treatment for boilers and cooling towers.
Chemtec Products Company is an industrial water treatment company in Souderton, Pennsylvania. We supply the products, run the program and test your water on site, for open and closed systems.
Boiler water
Scale on the tubes and corrosion in the metal both cost fuel and shorten the life of a boiler. We descale, keep the boiler running efficiently, and run inhibitor programs for high pressure steam and low pressure boilers, open or closed systems, steam or hot water. Each boiler can be tested.
What the program assumes on your side
- Feed water under 2 ppm total hardness.
- Feed water held above 180°F (high pressure) or 160 to 180°F (low pressure).
- 70 to 80 percent condensate return.
- Daily blowdown by your operator.
- Boiler conductivity held to the manufacturer's spec: 2,000 to 2,500 (high pressure) or 3,000 to 4,000 (low pressure).
Levels that can be checked
- Conductivity
- Inhibitor level
- Oxygen scavenger
- Alkalinity (P, M and O)
- Total hardness
- Visual: clear, cloudy or tinted
Feed water
The water going into the boiler decides how hard the boiler has to work. Hard or cold feed water means more scale and more oxygen in the system.
Levels that can be checked
- Conductivity
- Hardness
- Temperature

Cooling towers
A cooling tower concentrates minerals as water evaporates, and scale builds where the water runs hot. We descale and treat the tower, keep the inhibitor and algaecide feed where they should be, and set bleed-off by conductivity.
Levels that can be checked
- Conductivity against the bleed-off setpoint
- Inhibitor level
- Hardness
- pH
- Alkalinity (P, M and O)
- Visual
The field service visit and report
What the report measures, in plain words.
It starts with a free risk assessment of your system, no charge and no obligation. After that we do the testing for you. The Field Service Report is an option, written up as necessary and upon request, or on a schedule that suits you and your system. Once established, reports can be retrieved in the customer portal.
- Conductivity
- How much dissolved material is in the water. It climbs as water evaporates, and it tells us when to blow down a boiler or bleed off a tower.
- Inhibitor level
- How much treatment is in the system. Too low and the metal is not protected. Too high and you are paying for product you do not need.
- Oxygen scavenger
- Takes dissolved oxygen out of boiler water. The right level means oxygen is not attacking the metal.
- Alkalinity (P, M and O)
- Three standard readings of the water's buffering capacity. They show whether scale or corrosion is more likely.
- Hardness
- Calcium and magnesium, the minerals that turn into scale on hot surfaces.
- pH
- How acidic or alkaline the water is.
- Summary and recommendations
- What we adjusted during the visit, what we are watching, and anything your operators need to keep up between visits.
